Kingsburg, Calif. ---Crayfish Chowder will be the feature of the day for the 19th "Kingsburg Crayfish & Jazz Festival, Saturday, Sept. 19, 2009.

The regional late-summer favorite event has "kicked up" its attraction and is currently taking entries from commercial and weekend warriors alike to cook up what a panel of judges   determine is "the best".   There will be cash prizes awarded with amounts based upon the number of entrants in the competition.   There will be a $1,000 prize for the champion.
It's all part of the heritage and culture of the Central California village of Kingsburg which celebrates its Swedish heritage year-round in festivals and events.

In Sweden---late in the summers---crayfish are the guest of honor at their special parties throughout neighbors of that Scandinavian nation.   "Kingsburgers" have adapted it to feature the tasty little crustaceans as well as some outstanding jazz music under the stars.

Partygoers of all ages will find something special at the event.   There will be multiple stages situated throughout the quaint downtown of Kingsburg where jazz music of all types will be performed.

Among the features will be a special block-long children's area with games and fun rides.   A cooking stage will have regional chefs demonstrating some classy techniques for preparing crayfish in delectable culinary displays.

For the teenage festival-goers, there will be a "battle of the bands".   Live-boil crayfish and crayfish prepared in a vaiety of ways will be available to purchase.   Shops and restaurants in Kingsburg will have their doors open to greet the world.

Admission to the Festival is free to the public.
